Intentional librarian-student interactions during COVID-19

As part of a research study to examine first-year college students’ preparation for college-level research, students at six U.S. institutions higher education were surveyed in the spring semester 2021. The pandemic continued affect delivery information literacy (IL) instruction and library services across United States throughout 2020–2021 academic year. When completed this survey April May 2021, majority instructional offered synchronous asynchronous remote formats. students' engagement with librarians librarian-created resources captured via analysed determine whether able leverage these interactions materials despite contexts. Students who did not interact an librarian less likely use resources, had more problems accessing information, felt overwhelmed by quantity library. Results show that intentional student-librarian are bridge acquisition development knowledge practices dispositions ACRL Framework Information Literacy Higher Education. findings suggest considerations moving forward when it comes communicating delivering IL support libraries around world as countries emerge from conditions.
